I. A few days before the session, the following text could be sent to the participants in order to better prepare and be active.
1. Luke 9-13 can be divided:
- a) 9:1-17 and 9:51-10:24
- b) 9:18-36
- c) 9:37-50
- d) 10:25-41
- e) 11:1-13
- f) 11:13-36
- g) 11:37-54
- h) 12:1-12
- i) 12:13-48
- j) 12:49-59
- k) 13:1-9
- l) 13:10-17
- m) 13:18-30
- n) 13:31-35
2. The title of this session is “The project must survive us – the involvement of those around us”. We chose this title because the 4 chapters (9-13) proposed for this session show us how Jesus involves his apostles and disciples in the mission he began and how he puts them in front of different situations and learn how to respond to challenges and how to take advantage of opportunities to address people. This time, the divisions did not receive a title. With this in mind, please, complete the steps described in the table below:
Choose one of the divisions above.
Read the text of the chosen division.
Try not to be influenced by the titles you will find in the Bible you read.
Give a short title to the chosen division.
What impressed you in the text you read?
How you think the fragment contributed to the formation of the disciples in the sense of continuing the mission of Jesus? |
3. In Luke 12:49, Jesus presents his whole mission as a fire that warms the hearts of mankind. As a disciple of Jesus, you are called to contribute to his mission. In the drawing below, the globe is enclosed in an ice heart. In a maximum of 5 words, say what you would like to do in order to make the heart of humanity warmer, more loving. Write the words above the flame of the match in the drawing. Keep the drawing as a sign of remembrance of what you set out to make the world a more welcoming place (at least in the Christmas’ time). Share with the members of the group.
I look forward to meeting you.

II. The following materials are intended for the group leader, in order to prepare the meeting.
The group leader will prepare the whole text, chosen as basis for the session.
The leader will take notes of all the explanation presented by the group.
At the end, the leader will put together all information and will create a mission plan, highlighting how each member of the group chose to commit to contribute to the mission.
The group leader will help members to formulate in a simple and realistic way their contribution to make the world a better place.
The group leader will invite everyone to write their own plan on the drawing above and keep the drawing at least until the next session.
